Join us for a free, virtual national workshop providing information for survivors of gender-based violence, trafficking, and/or exploitation on the basics of filing taxes a self-employed entrepreneur or independent consultant and lessons learned from lived experience.

Focus:

The focus of this workshop is on economic empowerment, financial literacy, and professional development for survivors, with special attention to systemic barriers for marginalized communities, including people of color, LGBTQ+ folks, immigrants, women, and persons with disabilities.

Speakers:

The workshop will feature a presentation by tax expert, Nancy Rossner, Senior Staff Attorney at The Community Law Project, followed by panel discussion and Q & A with Tanya Gould, Survivor Leader Expert and Vice Chair of the US Advisory Council on Human Trafficking. The panel and Q & A will be moderated by Dr. Shobana Powell, LCSW, CEO & Founder of Shobana Powell Consulting.

Please Note:

  • Attendees: You do not have to self-identify as a survivor of gender-based violence (i.e. intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, exploitation, etc.) in order to attend. Our target audience is survivors, but we also encourage providers to join so you can share resources with the communities you serve.
  • Confidentiality: This webinar will not be recorded so as to create a trauma-informed virtual environment.
