We often hear that immigrants are the economic backbone of this country, yet we rarely talk about how we can use this strength as a path towards healing for immigrant survivors of domestic violence. As social services providers, many times we are operating under the false assumption that immigrant survivors cannot build their wealth because they are often unable to participate in traditional workforce development programs. This October, VIP invites you to learn about creative, local, and community-based strategies that offer real promise for more economically just futures for immigrant survivors of domestic violence.
Mujeres, Migration and Money will bring together survivors, advocates, allies and leaders in the field working at the intersection of economic and gender justice. Join us for dynamic discussions and information about economic strategies that are aligned with healing practices. Hear from survivors who will share their experiences with these strategies. This event will include two panel discussions that not only identify the challenges, but also offer promising strategies for supporting economic security for survivors. Attendees will walk away with the essentials—historical framework, guiding principles, concrete examples and inspiration—to bring economic justice models to your constituencies.
