Inspired by Joseph Campbell, the Hero’s Journey of Recovery is a group curriculum that gives individuals on a journey of recovery the opportunity to consider their lives within a new narrative, one that is affirming, empowering, humanizing and hopeful.
Attendees will learn to facilitate this curriculum in two 4 hour sessions:
- Morning: will venture through the stages of the Hero’s Journey of Recovery using art, film, journaling, poetry, self-reflection and discussion to gain insight, inspiration, and courage to awaken and bring forth your inner hero.
- Afternoon: will focus on how to adapt and bring the curriculum into your service organization using the Hero’s Journey of Recovery framework.
Facilitator: JoAnn Burton, CPRP, is an author and trainer, and has presented at numerous workshops for 20 years. She now specializes in Hero’s Journey curriculum. JoAnn is the Coordinator of Social, Educational and Vocational Programs at Windhorse Community Services, a contemplative-based mental health organization in Boulder, Colorado.
