Creating Resilience from ACEs to Joyful Advocacy!

Presented by Building Connections: The Sexual Assault and Mental Health Project

Thursday, December 6, 2018, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany, 405 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12206
Registration required: Register here by December 1, 2018.
Fee: $40*

Donna Jenson will perform her play, What She Knows: One Woman’s Way Through Incest to Joy, with a Q&A session to follow. Concurrent workshops in the afternoon include “A Time to Tell,” a writing workshop exclusively for survivors of sexual trauma, led by Donna Jensen; “Beyond ACEs**: Intentional and Unintentional Consequences for Trauma Screening,” co-led by Chrys Ballerano and Deb Faust; and “The Power of Music and Silence to Heal,” led by Sharon Lastique. Chrys Ballerano will host a community drum circle, an interactive experience where participants can connect with their own sense of play and the healing, gentle power of rhythm.

Lunch will be provided. A self-led self-care space with art and wellness supplies will also be available to support any individual who chooses to reflect individually or with a peer(s) rather than engage in any of the workshop offerings. A detailed agenda is available here.

Register by December 1, 2018: Register online or complete this registration form and mail it with a check to Building Connections/NYSCASA at 28 Essex Street, Albany, NY 12206.

Contact: Chrys Ballerano (cballerano@nyscasa.org) and Deb Faust (dfaust@mhanys.org). Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, or for assistance with registration.

*A registration fee of $40 will offset lunch and event program costs. If the fee for this event is cost-prohibitive for you, please contact Chrys Ballerano and Deb Faust to inquire about possible scholarship funds that may become available.
