NYSCASA’s legal advocacy program
provides technical assistance to rape
crisis programs, law enforcement,
survivors and allies. The advocate’s
goal is to help ensure and enhance a
victim’s safety by making sure certain
steps are taken within the criminal
justice system to protect and support a
sexual assault survivor. Mental HealthBuilding Connections, the Sexual Assault/Mental Health Project, is collaboration between NYSCASA and the Mental Health Association in Ulster County funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health. Since 1995, the mission has been to support statewide task forces specifically aimed at improving services for survivors of sexual trauma by linking mental health, rape crisis and other service providers. Through technical assistance, consultation, and training, the program promotes collaborative, trauma-informed treatment approaches which are strength-based, respectful, and destigmatizing.More about the Building Connections Project.
SAE/SANE/SAFE
Sexual Assault Examiner (SAE) programs
are innovative collaborations involving
rape crisis programs, medical
facilities, local district attorneys,
law enforcement agencies and related
organizations in order to provide the
sexual assault survivor with
victim-centered, sensitive care.
NYSCASA’s SAE project provides
resources, support and trainings to
program providers.
(More info about
SAE/SANE/SAFE.) NYSCASA builds collaborations with different systems within New York State and nationally, to improve services to survivors of sexual assault and to increase accessibility to many undisclosed and under-represented constituencies including people with disabilities, the LGBT community, immigrants and all people of color.

NYSCASA’s extensive resource library
allows service providers and NYSCASA
members access to videos, books and
other resources on a variety of topics
about sexual assault. NYSCASA is
dedicated to find resources that not

are also culturally diverse.

the principles and policies of victims’
rights work and a comprehensive set of
skills, knowledge and resources to meet
the short- and long-term needs of crime
victims in New York State.

The “I Commit to End Sexual Violence” campaign asks individuals to sign a pledge form which emphasizes personal accountability to end rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment. Each person who signs receives a wallet-size pledge card to remind them of his or her commitment and his or her name will be listed on the NYSCASA website as a supporter of the program.
